PROBLEM: As to a "coastal island" as defined by 33 M.R.S.A. §1202 and §1210, what additional information should the examiner obtain?
RECOMMENDATION: The examiner should determine that the island is registered with the Coastal Island Registry of the Bureau of Public Lands, and that the Bureau has made a determination that the registration was valid.
DISCUSSION: See Maine Coastal Island Registry 33 M.R.S.A. §1201 et seq. Information is obtainable by correspondence with Coastal Island Registry of the Bureau of Public Lands. This information should be obtained in addition to the usual title examination. The Bureau determination binds only the State.
